Our History
We are known as a Higher Heights Ministry Center of Love. Our vision is to empower and enlighten people to go higher and reach their goals. Higher Heights Ministry Center was birthed through fasting and prayer on January 1, 2003, in Danville, VA, under the leadership of Bishop Motley G. Davis as the Pastor and Bishop Timothy R. Beard as the Co-Pastor. The 1st service was held at the office of Davis Music Ministry, with over 35 people in attendance. In the 3rd service, the Lord used Bishop Davis, through prophecy, to open the door and tell the saints to point their hands across the street to a much larger building that God would bless Higher Heights with.
We marched into a 10,000-square-foot facility within two months, praising God. He had enlarged our territory. The word of God was preached, and souls were added to the church. God moved mightily in our services and continues to do so today. In 2005, Bishop Timothy R. Beard was installed as Pastor, taking the church to another level.
Many ministries, such as Women, Men, Youth, Outreach, and Seniors, were birthed. Since being at this location, God has blessed Higher Heights to renovate the building, and it has become a shining light to a dark neighborhood full of drugs and crime. God has commissioned the church to go out into the community and provide a place of worship for all ages.
In doing so, Higher Heights Ministry Center has been instrumental in implementing yearly Vacation Bible School, a Church-Based Tutorial program for elementary-aged children, a Summer Feed program, Community Fun Day, and many other programs.
In 2019, Elder Darry B Davis Jr. was installed as the Assistant Pastor who assists in leading the church into a growing relationship with Jesus! Higher Heights continues to build the ministry by having weekly Bible Study and Live Sunday Morning Services.
Meet Our Pastors
Bishop Tim Beard
Bishop Timothy R. Beard is the Senior Pastor of Higher Heights Ministry Center in Danville, Virginia. He has more than 30 years of experience imparting biblical principles on personal and prosperity growth. Under his leadership Higher Heights Ministry Center has started many support ministries which include: Men and Women’s Fellowship, After School Program, Community Outreach, Mentorship, and more to come. His passionate, practical and often humorous presentation of the word of God touches believers and impacts even the unchurched.
In July 2017 he started an online Sunday Morning Devotion where he gives inspirational, uplifting, and encouraging messages to people on a weekly basis.
Though his pastorate demands much of his time, he still believes in engaging and maintaining healthy and strong ties with other leaders in the community. Signs, wonders, miracles of healing, deliverance, and financial prosperity follow the word that pours out of this humble man of God. His teaching series on “sowing and reaping” is just one of the teachings that have blessed and helped increase the faith level of people from all walks of life.
Bishop Beard holds two Associate degrees in Business Management and Marketing, which he uses to empower and educate the people of God to be successful in the future. He also graduated from Averett University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a concentration in Leadership.
For over years Bishop Beard has worked in the musical arena as a Choir Director and has assisted on numerous recordings. He has been an entrepreneur for over 30 years as a music instructor with Gospel Plus Music. His motto is “Focus on where you are
going, not where you’ve been”.
Bishop Beard resides in Danville, VA with his wife Yolanda. They have one son Terrill, two daughters, Kendra and Keona, and one grandson, Carter.
While he continues to move forward in his calling he definitely believes in motivating the people of God to achieve their dreams and goals while on earth as they are preparing for heaven as well.
Pastor Darry Davis Jr.
Darry B. Davis Jr. is the Assistant Pastor at Higher Heights Ministry Center in Danville, Virginia. He has been a faithful member of Higher Heights Ministry Center since 2009. Pastor Davis has served in the ministry as a minister of music and Deacon. He is a father, husband, songwriter, teacher, and mentor.
Pastor Davis served as the head deacon until he was ordained an Elder and appointed to Assistant Pastor. He is the founder and member of Reflecting Glory Band, who has recorded and released original music.
Pastor Davis is happily married to Kaneshia. They are the proud parents of four children; Kaneecia, Kamari, Karis, Darry Davis lll, and Kelena.
